On September 28, 2016, EdSurge published an article on teamwork in online education. This article highlights the work of dLRN partners Carolyn Rose (CMU) and the California Community Colleges Online Education Initiative around online collaborative activities with students and a conversational agent (Bazaar).  The goals of the activities are to help with comprehension and student retention in online statistics courses. The dLRN website has additional information about the Collaborative Refection Activities Using Conversational Agents project. EdSurge also highlights the Supporting Team-Based Learning in MOOCs project by Carolyn Rose and Jacquie Moen of the Smithsonian Institute. They used the Smithsonian’s Rise of Superheroes and the Heroes of the Future MOOC to run a collaborative project utilizing the Bazaar tool where participants designed a team of superheroes. The project had a very high completion rate, which is atypical in traditional MOOCs.
