This project looks at team-based learning in large, traditional, online statistics courses (ties to Project #6 which explores massive open online courses (MOOCs)). Students in this course use data on giant pandas from the Smithsonian to perform analyses and then collaboratively design interventions to proactively improve the care of pandas in captivity. Teams are based off of pre-task discussions and after being assigned to their groups, students complete a jigsaw activity to design their intervention. This guided activity includes producing data, determining probability, and making inferences.


July 2016 – CMU/Stanford have designed some activities for the Panda dataset using StatTutor to help learners engage in collaborative discussions for Fall 2016.
